Getting a Nexus 6 from T-Mobile won't be easy...

Trying to get a Nexus 6? Great we are too... Although it hasn’t been officially released, pre-orders started on October 29th through the Google Play Store and have since sold out twice. Not only did the Google Play Store run out of inventory, the Motorola online store sold out as well.
There has been hope through T-Mobile that they would have the device in stock on launch. An earlier leaked document suggested that the T-Mobile would launch the Nexus 6 on November 12th. This has since been confirmed through calls we made to T-Mobile.
Unfortunately, it seems tha ta Wednesday launch is imminent, not all stores will get the device. The document (which can be seen below) came courtesy of the XDA forums. It shows that over 1800 stores nationwide will get a demo unit of the Nexus 6, whereas only 300 stores will actually have stock to sell.
It is unknown if this document is legitimate, but we will definitely find out soon. For our sake, we hope it isn't.

11/4 Roundup: Google + LG and Nexus 6

GOOGLE AND LG ENTER INTO GLOBAL PATENT LICENSE AGREEMENT

Google has been dominating the smartphone/tech news headlines as of late, most notably with their new devices the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 and the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop. While some of today's news as to do with the former, something bigger came about today.

Google and longtime partners LG, who co-created the most-popular Nexus device to date (Nexus 5), have agreed to a long-term patent cross-licensing agreement. The agreement, which spans 10 years will cover a wide products and technologies. The official press release statement can be read below.
“We’re pleased to enter into this agreement with a leading global technology company like LG,” said Allen Lo, deputy general counsel for patents at Google. “By working together on cross-licenses like this, companies can focus on bringing great products and services to consumers around the world.”

“LG values its relationship with Google, and this agreement underscores both companies’ commitment to developing new products and technologies that enhance consumers’ lives,” said J.H. Lee, executive vice president and head of the LG Electronics Intellectual Property Center."

The two companies have long been partners, coming together for the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. One can imagine that this only solidifies their future together and will most likely release another Nexus device sometime in the future.

The Google Play Store has been 'out of inventory' ever since a few minutes after Google opened up pre-orders for the Nexus 6 on October 29th. That will change tomorrow.

According to the new Nexus 6 store page, Google will work to have devices in stock every Wednesday. The problem is, they don't say what time that it will be up and running. The first time the device went up for pre-order, it was around 12 to 12:30 (central standard time) when the site went live, so we expect it to be no different.

It also says that devices will be available for pre-order through AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular later this month. One major carrier is missing from this message, and that once again is Verizon Wireless. Verizon was expected to carry the Nexus 6, but they didn't support the Nexus 5, so who knows.

Dates for individual carriers have not been mentioned, but we have contacted T-Mobile, and the have said multiple times that the device will launch on November 12th.

Are you going to be spending your time tomorrow being unproductive and repeatedly hitting F5? Let us know!

Android Lollipop will officially roll out today for Nexus devices

So finally after almost 5 months the wait for the Nexus owners comes to an end. In an official blog, Google has put out a post saying that Android 5.0 Lollipop has started rolling out already. Google has confirmed that Android 5.0 Lollipop would be coming to all the Nexus devices – Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and tablets Nexus 7 (2012 and 2013 editions) and Nexus 10. The Nexus 9, which has launched internationally, comes pre-loaded with the new operating system, and so will the Google Nexus 6 when it comes out.

Android’s official blog reads:
If you’re like me, you jump between a number of different devices throughout the day—reading a magazine on your tablet, checking the time on your watch, chatting with your friends on the phone, even plotting your route in the car. More and more, our screens work together, each helping make your life a little bit easier. But if the design is the way they communicate with us, it often feels like each one is speaking a different language. That’s why we unveiled material design earlier this year: one consistent design language flexible enough to span devices across mobile, desktop, and beyond. Design is a major focus for Lollipop—the latest version of Android—which begins to roll out today.

Last night, Google launched the new Gmail 5.0 app along with the Calendar app, both of which come with Material Design. The company is slowly updating all of its official apps in the ‘Material Design’ style. Google describes Material Design as a “bold, colourful, and responsive UI design for consistent, intuitive experiences across all your devices. Responsive, natural motion, realistic lighting and shadows, and familiar visual elements make it easier to navigate your device. Vivid new colours, typography, and edge-to-edge imagery help to focus your attention."

Motorola has already confirmed the update for most of its phones available in the market, which includes the Moto X (1st Gen. & 2nd Gen.), Moto G (1st Gen. & 2nd Gen.), Moto E, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini. HTC confirmed that it will be releasing the Android L update within 90 days of receiving the final software from Google.

Did you miss out on a Nexus 6 pre-order? You can find them on eBay for 2K!

It happened with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, and now it's happening with the Nexus 6. The only difference is the Nexus 6 isn't even released yet, and isn't expected to be shipped for 3-4 weeks. Multiple users on eBay have ponied up their Nexus 6 pre-orders, and some are going for extraordinary amounts.

While most are listed at or around $1,000 for a 32 GB model in Midnight Blue, a 64 GB model in the popular Midnight Blue is going for $2,000. With 19 bids and 9 bidders, some people really want this phone! Don't worry, you can still get your bid in, there's still over a day left on the auction.

What some people might not know, is that the expected launch date for carriers may come before Google's. We got in contact with a T-Mobile rep, and they stated the phone will be launched on November 12th. The key here is that it is a launch date, not a pre-order date. So while some might be bidding for a phone that won't be available until late November, you could beat them to the punch.

Evolution of the Nexus series (One through 6)

Google's flagship series, the Nexus line, have been one of the most successful phone lines ever since the original Nexus One was released in 2010. Many users gravitate to the Nexus series due to their unlockable bootloader, no manufacturer or carrier modification to the stock Android OS,  and most-importantly, they're the first phones to receive Android updates. Since 2010 Google has released 5 devices and the soon to be sixth device, the Nexus 6 is due out next month. We are going to recap all of the Google Nexus devices ahead of the highly-anticipated launch of the Nexus 6.

The device was debuted with Android 2.1 Eclair and was updated up to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Nexus phone and tablet no longer budget devices

Today is the day many Android fans have been waiting for. It is expected to be the long awaited debut of the Google and Motorola collaboration, the Nexus 6, and the Google and HTC collaboration, the Nexus 9. Up until today, we have gotten a few looks as to what to expect and details surrounding the specs,  but no pricing details.

According to these leaked images from Caschys Blog, we can see the expected prices of the two devices. Android enthusiasts that were hoping that the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 would follow in the footsteps of the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7, have been let down.

HTC Nexus 9

Motorola Nexus-6

These prices are in Euros, however Google tends to sell their devices at the same price no matter the currency. One hope, is that these may be carrier prices. If that were the case, it would be almost guaranteed that Google would sell them for as much as $50 less, if not more on the Google Play Store.

Pricing will most likely be announced later today, so we'll keep you updated.

Both devices come with massive specs, such as QHD displays on both of them, a Snapdragon 805 processor on the Nexus 6 with 3 GB of RAM, and a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 with 2 GB of RAM on the Nexus 9.

Will you get either of these devices or is the pricing too high? Let us know!

Nexus 6 leaked in future Google Ad

The latest surrounding Android L and the Google/Motorola Nexus 6 is that they will be unveiled in their entirety tomorrow (October 15, 2014). A new ad shows off the what could be the new Nexus device, even though the spot is just a cartoon.

As you can see in the video below, a massive device gets pulled out of one of the smaller character's pockets, that seems to look seemingly familiar to the Nexus 6 or Shamu leaks we've seen in the past. The sheer size of the device in the video definitely points towards the Nexus coming with a massive 5.9 inch display. The device also has the minimalistic Android L navigation buttons, which is referring to Android L.

The device is expected to ship with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 805 processor, 3 GB of RAM, and a QHD display (1440 x 2560). While the device is expected to be debuted tomorrow, it could see a release as early as November 3, 2014 which has been previously reported.

Nexus 6 (Shamu): Specs revealed in screenshot; What will this new Nexus cost?

It appears as if the new Nexus 6 device has popped up on CPU-Z. CPU-Z is freeware that gathers information about a system, such as computers, phones, tablets, etc. The screenshots below show the expected specifications to come on the Nexus 6.

Motorola Shamu Nexus 6 specs CPU-Z screenshots leaked_1Motorola Shamu Nexus 6 specs CPU-Z screenshots leaked_2

More and more information about the Nexus 6 are aligning and the highly-rumored device will most definitely ship with a QHD 5.9 inch display (1440 x 2560), Qualcomm's Snapdragon 805 processor, 3 GB, and will ship with the most-anticipated Android upgrade to date.

This device definitely has monster specifications, especially when comparing it to other Google Nexus devices. The one thing it has us wondering, is will it come at the same $300-400 price range? The new and critically-acclaimed (and not so much acclaimed...invite system) phone company OnePlus has shown us that we can get a flagship device, without the flagship cost. The only thing, is that it costs the company much profit.

The OnePlus One comes in at two prices, $300 for the 16 GB model and $350 for the 64 GB model. This is eye-catching, due to the fact that phones such as the LG G3, with nearly identical specs comes in at around $500.

Will Google follow this mantra? Google is one of the biggest if not most known tech companies in the world. They did so with the Nexus 5, considering it still was a little higher than the price of the One, however it was still different for the time.

If Google wants the Nexus 6 to be successful, it will have to come in under the $500 price range. We expect the Nexus to be sold from between $400-500, close to the price of the new Moto X. That enticing consumers looking for a high-end device to skip over the G3 at $500+ and the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 at $750. Only time will tell, and we'll find out soon.

With more and more information coming about surrounding this device, we can get a clear picture of what this Google phone will come with. The new Nexus is expected to be debuted this Halloween on October 31st.

The question is, will you be picking up the Nexus 6? Let us know!

October Roundup 1: Apple, HTC, Nexus, and Samsung

October is shaping up to be a big month for mobile tech following a monstrous September that saw the debut of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Motorola Moto X, Xperia Z3, and the iPhone 6/6 Plus. This month we are looking forward to the expected debut of the upcoming Nexus devices, the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, a new HTC One, and the newest iPad Air. Along with these upcoming devices comes news regarding the ever-popular iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung continuing the trend of metal-framed devices.

Apple

A little over a half of a month has passed, and Apple's iPhone is selling as well as ever. Apple stunned the tech community when they finally ditched their small 4 inch screens for more mainstream 4.7 and 5.5 inch displays. It seems as Apple has definitely chose the right path, following other phone manufacturers such as HTC's One series, LG's G series, and Samsung's Galaxy series.

Both iPhone 6 variants are selling well. With close to 20 million units moved since the September 19th release, with around 20% of those devices are the iPhone 6 Plus. Unfortunately for consumers and Apple, the massive 6 Plus is still on back-order.

The iPhone 6 Plus is back-ordered 3-4 weeks on the official Apple store whereas the smaller iPhone 6 is only back-ordered 7-10 days. This may change in the coming weeks. It is rumored that Apple is shifting production to manufacture more 6 Plus units to combat the high demand and short supply.

In other Apple news, it seems as if the upcoming iPad 2 has reportedly leaked. The images above are courtesy of 9to5Mac via a Vietnamese blog. These images show what looks like an enlarged iPhone 6 Plus.

The updated iPad Air 2, which is rumored to be debuted before the end of this year, can be seen with the popular Touch ID fingerprint scanner, no mute switch, and a highly slimmed down design. The iPad Air 2 is rumored to be just 7 mm thin, compared to 7.5 mm of the previous iteration of the Air and 7.1 mm of the iPhone 6 Plus.

It is unknown if this device is a full working or dummy unit. Regardless, it gives us a great glimpse as to what is to come to the iPad series. Apple has a tough fight on their hands. They are trying to balance enlarging their phones while attempting to keep their tablet sales high.

HTC

HTC has something up their sleeves, and it seems that we will find out later today (10/08/2014). In the image you can see the phone looks very similar to the HTC One M8. It may look identical on the outside, but as we all know, it's what's on the inside that counts.

The image above is rumored to be the HTC One M8 Eye. It looks identical to the original M8, but will come with more premium specifications. It is rumored that the 'Eye' will come with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5 GHz and 2 GB of RAM that came on the original M8.

The major difference, is that it the 'Eye' is expected to come with not one, but two 13 megapixel cameras. You read that correctly; HTC is expected to have a phone with a 13 megapixel rear shooter instead of HTC's favorite 4 ultra-pixel camera, and a 13 megapixel camera in the front of the device instead of the 5 megapixel shooter seen on the M8.

Desire Eye leak

HTC has drew much criticism from both consumers and people in the tech community for the lack of image quality. While the ultra-pixel trend was a good attempt at something different, it's good to see that HTC has listened and will up the megapixels.

Along with the bump in camera specs, the phone is also expected to come with a bump in screen size. The Eye's display will be bumped up to 5.2 inches, however it will come with the same 1080p resolution

HTC's launch event can be streamed live on YouTube at this link here at 3 P.M. central standard time.

Google Nexus

Lots of rumors and high-anticipation has been swirling around with the latest leaks of the upcoming Nexus 6 device. It is causing quite the stir with its high-end rumored specs. Among those are an absolutely massive 5.9 inch QHD display, 3 GB of RAM, Snapdragon 805 processor, 13 megapixel camera with OIS, and of course, the latest iteration of Android: Android L.

shamufinal2

According to 9to5Google, the Nexus 6 or also known as Shamu, has been passed through the FCC according to this document here. While this is inviting news, it does not mean a release is imminent. Most rumors are pointing to Halloween or October 31st for Google to debut the new line of Nexus devices.

This device is a big step for stock Android devices developed by Google. Previous models of the Nexus line have also been phones with decent specs at an even better price. Most notably, the Nexus is still prevalent today with its full 1080p 4.95 inch display, 2 GB of RAM, and 8 megapixel camera with OIS. This is the first time Google is stepping up to the plate and pushing out a premium device with great specs.

Along with the Nexus 6, Google is expected to announce the Nexus 9. We previously covered the rumors surrounding this monster of a tablet earlier, however this device has passed through the FCC as well. The documents can be seen here.

The Nexus 9 will sport an 8.9 inch QHD display, the super-fast NVIDIA 64-bit Tegra K1, 3 GB of RAM, a 16 megapixel rear shooter, and come with 16 or 32 GB of storage.

Samsung

It all started with the Galaxy Alpha. It was Samsung's first metal-framed phone since they adopted the ever criticized plastic on all previous models such as the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, and the Note 3. Now it seems as if Samsung isn't slowing down on the 'metal' trend.

Just last month, Samsung showed off its metal-framed Galaxy Note 4 and it drew much praise. Samsung has finally ditched the plastic. Now Samsung is rumored to be releasing even more metal devices.

Samsung is now rumored to be pushing out an all-new line of devices tentatively called the 'A' series. They have three devices on tap already: Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, and Galaxy A7. These devices will be a more budget-friendly line of Samsung phones looking to retail between $400-600.

The Galaxy A3 is likely to sport a smaller 4.7 inch display, similar to the likes of the Galaxy Alpha. It will come with a resolution of 720 x 1280.

The Galaxy A5 will come in at the middle range of a 5 inch display, 13 megapixel rear shooter, and a massive 5 megapixel front shooter. This device will also have a resolution of 720 x 1280. The leaked images of the A5 can be seen below.

SM-A500 GALAXY A5 5

SM-A500 GALAXY A5 7

SM-A500 GALAXY A5 1

The Galaxy A7 is expected to ship with a slightly larger screen coming in at 5.5 inches. This will still be a budget-friendly device, but will come with full 1080p resolution. It is unknown what specs will be on the inside of this device, but we will keep up on the details.

We expect these devices to be debuted early November.

Rumor Roundup: Android L and Nexus X (6)

There has been a lot of rumors and news going around the smartphone community as of late. Whether it is the supposed leaked images of Shamu (Nexus X  or Nexus 6), the latest hint at Android L being named, or the ever controversial BendGate topic, we have you covered in this edition of Rumor Roundup.

Nexus X

The Nexus X or Nexus 6 has been the topic of the latest leaks and rumors, mainly because of its expected specs. The new Nexus device, is expected to come with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 805 processor, 3 GB of RAM, and QHD display rumored to be anywhere from 5.2 to 5.9 inches.

The previous iterations of the Nexus have all been very good phones, however their specs were never atop the market. That is what makes the phone, codenamed 'Shamu' so intriguing. To go along with the overhaul  on specs, the device is expected to have the biggest screen of a Nexus phone to date.

When the new Nexus device was first rumored to be made by Motorola, it was expected to come with a massive 5.9 inch display. This is much larger than its predecessor. The Nexus 5's display measures in at 5 inches. However, once the Moto X (2014) was debuted, rumors shifted. It was thought that the device would pony off the X and use the same chassis.

All of that has changed, once this image (seen below) leaked onto the internet. The image shows, what appears to be an enlarged version of the Moto X (2014) sitting next to an LG G3. The Nexus device dwarfs the G3, which comes with a 5.5 inch display. This definitely feeds fuel to the fire that the new Google device will sport a massive 5.9 inch display.

The new Nexus device is expected to be debuted on Halloween this year, October 31st, and see a release date of  the following week in November.

Nexus 6 X Motorola Shamu Leak vs LG G3 Comparison.

Android L

Android L has been around ever since Google debuted the updated Android OS on June 25 at the Google I/O Conference this year. Although the updated OS has been debuted, and extensively available through developer previews, the tasty desert name is still MIA. A new image that Google posted celebrating their 16th birthday, may be the closest hint at to what the new name will be.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the name for Android L might be Android Lion. To give some credit to this rumor, Google partnered with Nestle for Android K naming after the crunchy candy KitKat. Lion is also a candy bar made by Nestle, however it is not readily available stateside and is not very popular worldwide. It is unlikely that Google would do this again.

To go along with the Lion rumor, there was a period of time where lemon meringue pie was rumored as well. In FCC documents regarding WiFi testing on a Google device, the build had the initials 'LMP'. This sparked the Android Lemon Meringue Pie kick. This has slightly faded over the past weeks.

The original name thought to be for Android L was Lollipop. This was rumored after KitKat was debuted, and has long been on top of the rumor mill. This name has reemerged after an odd birthday cake Google posted for their birthday.

For Google's birthday, they posted an image of asking Google Now "why do we put candles on birthday cakes?" In the image, you can see that the cake doesn't have candles on it, however it is adorned by lollipops. The fact that they are using Google Now, which is Google's answer to Siri, showing off lollipops, gives us a strong hint as to what Android L will be called: Android Lollipop.

New Nexus device won't be 'Nexus 6'

The latest news to come out surrounding the Google and Motorola collaboration about the new Nexus device is that it won't be called the 'Nexus 6'. This is due to a lawsuit that is being pursued by the estate of Philip K. Dick, who was a prominent sci-fi novelist. In his 1968 novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sleep?", a bounty hunter hunts down androids known as Nexus-6 models.

The Philip K. Dick estate has been pursuing this lawsuit since the first Nexus device was released in early 2010. They believe that it is infringement on their intellectual-property rights.

If Google were to name their new Nexus device, the '6', it could be clearly seen as copyright infringement of the 1968 novel. The codename that is circulating around the new Nexus device has been 'Nexus X', which is not yet confirmed.

The new Nexus device is expected to ship with a 5.9 inch QHD display (1440 x 2560), a Snapdragon 805 CPU, and a 13 megapixel camera featuring optical image stabilization (OIS). This will most likely see a late--October or early-November release.Rumor has it, it will be a quiet Halloween release.

Nexus 6 (Shamu) specs leak

The latest on the Nexus 6 (Shamu) is that details on the specifications have leaked. The Nexus 6 is going to be more than just a budget device this time around.

The Nexus 5 came in $350 for mid-range specs, but was hugely successful. The Nexus isn't going to skimp on specs this time around. It is coming packed full with hardware boasting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 CPU and 3GB. Topping the list of expected features will definitely be its new OS, Android L.

The question most people are wondering is, will it be the same price range as its predecessor? With highly improved specs and sporting a QHD display, one would assume the Nexus would take part in a price hike. However, we saw it on the OnePlus One, a great phone with great specs can come at a bargain price. With these specs we'd assume the Nexus 6 will start at $400 for the 16GB model and $450 for its 64GB counterpart. This is still extremely below average, but should cover the expenses of the new hardware.

Google has always debuted their newest build numbers with the Nexus devices, and this will be no different. The Nexus 6 will ship with Android 5.0. Look for an October debut of Shamu and maybe even a late October release.

The expected specs can be seen below.

Updated Nexus 6: Specs

Google's ever popular Nexus line is at it again. According to the latest reports, Google has partnered with Motorola to begin the process of creating the Nexus 6. It's code name is 'Shamu' and this new Nexus will have all new specs, a new OS, and even a new screen. The Nexus 5 was extremely popular for its vanilla Android and its price-point. The Nexus 6 looks to build off of that. Get the specs below.

A new update to the Nexus 6 rumors is that the device has been benchmarked. It will come with QHD, 3GB of RAM, and a 12 megapixel shooter. These specs have this device shaping up to be a high-end smartphone. The only concern is if the Nexus 6 will be able to retain it's low cost. We should find out this October.
